Prague welcomes the Pope
I’ve just come back from a week in Prague. To be honest I had mixed emotions about returning to that city. The last time I was there was over 20 years ago. I was on a tour of Europe as the support artist to Art Garfunkel. Now that might sound glamorous, and it was an …

Back on the road…
One of the things I remember about watching TV on Christmas Day afternoon as a kid was the adverts for holidays. No sooner had we put the Slade and Wizard records away than we had images of sun drenched beaches in prime time. Now you might not have started making your travel plans for 2020 …
We should get rid of The Palace Theatre because ???????
There’s a great programme on Radio 4 called ‘The Long View’ which compares decisions we make today with decisions made in the past. Keir Starmer, Carolyn Harris and me.
I suspect 3 years ago none of us would have been able to tell the difference between a backstop and a prorogue. I remember being in infants school and thinking the kids in the junior school looked so grown up. The same thing happened looking at the prefects when I moved to Dynevor Senior Comprehensive school and then again starting to work in the BBC where the room appeared to be full of grownups!!! My grandfather George …
Carolyn and Kev.
This week I wanted to write this column about 2 of my friends. Now in the world I inhabit we probably throw around the term friend more freely than we should. As a radio presenter, every day I meet or chat to world famous people you would normally only hear on the radio. So, I …
Call Me Bampy!!
Experience tells you that life will probably go on exactly the same as before but as you approach a new show you always ask yourself; will this production be life changing. Like the moment Catherine Zeta Jones came on to play the lead in 42nd Street after both the lead and understudy weren’t available and …
Professor Do Little?
I sat on the stage of the Brangwyn Hall, dressed in the robes of a Professor, and I listened to someone else’s life flash before me. Professor Judith Hall was being eulogised by her sponsor. In short, she had help cut the rate of infant mortality in Sub Saharan Africa in half. Her work was …
